Usually Vole Control devices are battery operated. The coverage area of Vole Control devices is in the shape of a circle. Buildings that use a concrete slab, footer system or have a basement will block the irritating sound or vibration from penetrating. The sound is produced approximately every 15 - 30 seconds and is around 300 - 400 hertz or may use a vibration.
Vole Control devices come in two basic kinds, the vibrating type and the sonic type. The vibrasonic type uses a motor to make the vibration, and the sonic type generates a electronic signal to create the vibration. Vole Control devices come in all shapes and sizes, and are not all equal. To install either type you may be able to push into the ground, if your soil is light and airy. You may also be able to soak the ground with water and wait for it to soak in, then allowing you to push in. Do not hammer, pound or otherwise force the Vole Control device into the ground, this will damage the Vole Control device. If the previous methods do not work or are not possible due to dense or compacted soil, then you must dig a hole 16" to 18" deep and about 3" across. Place the Vole Control into the hole, backfill the soil around the device and tamp it firm around the Vole Control device. Unscrew the top and slide the electronics out, install batteries and slide back into the tube. Screw the top back on, do not over tighten, snug is fine. The desired effect of the Vole Control device will take 10 days to 2 weeks, and you will notice alot more activity just before the moles, gophers, voles or ground burrowing squirrels evacuate the area. This type of Vole Control device can be heard if you are out in the general vicinity. Batteries Should be replaced, if you notice a drop in level of the sound, or if it sounds distorted. You must use Alkaline Batteries in the Vole Control device. Duracell or Eveready Energizer are the brands we reccommend. The Vole Control device sure beats using chemicals, traps or explosives to rid your yard of Moles and Gophers.
